EMC has successfully obtained both ISO 9001:2001 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications.
UK open source software specialist, Enterprise Management Consulting (EMC), has today announced that the company has achieved ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certification, for software development, provision of software solutions and IT helpdesk services. The certifications were awarded by BM TRADA, a UKAS accredited body. The two ISO standards, for management quality and environmental management standards respectively, are now virtual prerequisites for significant public sector contracts and are held in high regard by most private sector organisations.
“This certification now allows us to compete on a level playing field with larger proprietary software vendors, and bring the potential cost savings of OSS to large public and private sector tenders,” comments Malcolm Macsween, managing director of EMC. “We are one of only a handful of independent open source software (OSS) consultancies to have achieved these certifications. It is a extremely important recognition of our company’s commitment to high standards of project management, customer care and sustainable business.”
