Legal compliance and ISO 14001: 2004
heir document 'Legal compliance as part of Accredited ISO 14001: 2004 Certification' EA-07-04.This document has been issued to give guidance to assessors on how to assess the relationship between a client's accredited Environmental Management System (EMS) when certified according to ISO 14001:2004 and that client's degree of compliance with applicable legal requirements. The impact upon LRQA clients will be that all accreditation bodies who are signatories to the EA will now expect our assessors to make use of this guidance when performing assessments upon clients who hold certification against ISO 14001: 2004 under their accreditation. It is not anticipated that the contents of the EA document will result in significant changes to our approach to performing assessments against the ISO 14001: 2004. The document provides an aid to assist assessors when examining the subject of legal compliance within certified clients and as such helps when explaining to our clients where their EMS can be used to achieve this.
